FAQs

What is Foster Care Feline Milk Replacer?

A complete milk replacer powder for kittens, also used to support pregnant, lactating or recovering cats. It contains taurine, which cats cannot make in adequate amounts themselves and which is essential for heart and eye development.

How do I mix it?

Follow the mixing directions on the tub exactly. Milk that is too concentrated or too dilute both cause problems, and made-up milk should be kept refrigerated and used within the time the label states.

Can I give a kitten cow’s milk instead?

No. Cow’s milk does not match a queen’s milk and commonly causes diarrhoea in kittens, which is dangerous at that age.

How often do newborn kittens need feeding?

Very frequently, including through the night, with the interval lengthening as they grow. Your vet will give you a schedule for their age and weight — hand-rearing is demanding and worth setting up properly from the start.

Is there anything I must not do?

Never feed a kitten that is cold — warm them slowly first, as a chilled kitten cannot digest milk. Never feed one on its back or squeeze milk into the mouth, as milk going into the lungs is a common and often fatal mistake. Weigh them daily; they should gain steadily.

When should I call my vet?

A kitten that is losing weight, cold, limp, crying constantly, not feeding, or has diarrhoea needs veterinary help the same day. Newborns deteriorate very quickly.

Where is it made?

In the USA. Available at Boss Pets UK with fast delivery.
