FAQs

What is it used for?

Daily antioxidant support for normal eye health in small dogs, using grape seed extract, lutein, omega-3 fatty acids and other antioxidants in a liquid gelcap.

Does it prevent cataracts, glaucoma or retinal disease?

No. These are diagnosed conditions that need veterinary assessment, and some need urgent treatment. Glaucoma in particular is an emergency and can cost sight within hours. An antioxidant supplement supports normal eye health; it does not prevent, treat or reverse eye disease.

How much should I give?

Dogs of 1–10 lb take 1 gelcap daily, given whole with a meal. Dogs over 10 lb need the medium and large dog version. Check the pack, as directions can be revised.

How long before I see a difference?

Antioxidant supplementation is a long-term measure, and in many cases the aim is to support stability rather than produce a visible change. Veterinary eye examinations are how progress is judged, not how your dog appears at home.

Is grape seed extract safe for dogs?

Grape seed extract is not the same as grapes or raisins, which are toxic to dogs. Use only a properly formulated veterinary product at the labelled dose.

Should the gelcaps be opened?

Give them whole. The contents can stain. If your dog will not take a gelcap, the powder capsule or chew versions are made to be mixed with food.

How should I store it?

In a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

When should I see a vet urgently?

Sudden vision loss, squinting, severe redness, a blue or cloudy eye, discharge, injury, a visibly enlarged eye or signs of pain. Delay can cost sight.

We have only recently obtained the Ocu-Glo vision supplement from yourselves. It was recommended to us for use on our dog who is suffering with macular degeneration. Our ophthalmic veterinarian recommended them to us. It is something that cannot be treated with surgery or with medication thus the use of a supplement.
