What is the difference between ZYMOX Plus and standard ZYMOX Otic?

Both are built on the same LP3 Enzyme System — lysozyme, lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase. ZYMOX Plus adds four further biofilm-targeting enzymes: mutanase, dextranase, cellulase and beta-glucanase. How do I use it?

Shake well, apply enough to fill the ear canal with no pre-cleaning, massage the base of the ear, wipe any excess from the outer ear and let your pet shake their head. Use once a day for 7 days, continuing up to 14 days for more stubborn or long-standing problems, or as your vet directs.

Do I need to clean the ears first?

No — and you should not. Pre-cleaning can disrupt the enzymes and make it less effective. If you have just cleaned the ears with something else, wait about 24 hours before starting.

Can I use it for ongoing maintenance?

It is well suited to pets with recurring ear problems, used alongside regular vet check-ups. For routine weekly maintenance, standard ZYMOX Otic is the usual choice.

Is it suitable for puppies and kittens?

Generally yes, it is gentle enough for young pets, but check with your vet before using it on very young animals to confirm it suits their age and condition.

What if it does not seem to be working?

The most common reason is cleaning the ears before or during use, or using other ear products at the same time. Leave the ears uncleaned and use ZYMOX on its own. If you see no improvement after 7 days, or things get worse at any point, stop and speak to your vet.

Does it sting?

ZYMOX is designed to be gentle and contains no antibiotics or steroids, and most pets tolerate it well. As with any topical product, some pets may get mild redness or irritation, and occasionally a sensitivity can develop after several applications. Stop use and contact your vet if you notice anything unusual.

When should I see my vet instead?

If your pet’s ears are painful, very red, discharging or getting worse, see your vet first. A head tilt, loss of balance or crying when the ear is touched needs prompt attention.
